Libby's 10th edition of the Kootenai Country International Chainsaw Carving Competition (Clash of the Carvers) was held over the weekend of September 10-13 on Mineral Avenue. Nineteen of the world's best carvers came to Libby to display their incredible talent for chainsaw carving.
The carvers this year were Adrian Bois, Sam Bowsher, Mark Colp, Jamie Doeren, Lkhagvadorj Dorjsuren (George), Kamron Garbe, Denny Henson, Bridgette Lochhead, Josh Miller, Amanda O'Neil, Alex Pricob, Emil Szkipala, Stefan Szkipala, Kyle Thomas, Thor, Raimondas Uždravis, Ryan Villiers, Tyler Welfing, and Taylor White.
Over the course of four days they created four quick carves (completed in an hour and a half) while also working on their master carving for judging.
Sunday proved to be a rainy day, saving the worst of it for the final auction. It didn't stop the bidding, however, as the auction carried on and awards were given.
Judges' Choice Placements: 1st - Kamron Garbe with his Catch of Contention (Herons) 2nd - Ryan Villiers with Born to the Wild (Mountain Lions) 3rd - Tyler Welfing with Slow Down and Smell the Roses (Bee) 4th - Amanda O'Neil with Mountain Legacy (Goats) 5th - Kyle Thomas with Adventure Awaits (Bear with Telescope)
People's Choice: 1st - Ryan Villiers 2nd - Kyle Thomas 3rd - Josh Miller (Eagle with American Flag)
Carvers' Choice: Kamron Garbe
Judy McVay Memorial: Amanda O'Neil
Quick Carve Winner: Sam Bowsher (measured by monetary amount sold)
Another incredible event in the books. Thanks to all who organized, sponsored, volunteered, participated and attended.
