Libby's annual Kootenai River Stampede was held over the weekend of July 24-25 at J. Neils Park arena. The two-day PRCA and WPRA rodeo is a big attraction for Libby and surrounding areas and this year had an added purse raising prize money to $4,000 for each event, attracting a remarkable number of contestants for the weekend.
Events included saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping, bareback riding, ladies’ breakaway roping, tie-down roping, barrel racing, and bull riding.
Several visiting rodeo royalty and flag bearers were in attendance, helping wherever and however needed. Outlaw Buckers Rodeo Company provided rough stock, and Mike Wallace was the rodeo funny and barrel man. Entertainment was provided by Dalton Morris, trick roper; and Spencer Rose Coughlin and her two young daughters, trick ropers and riders.
Also on hand were food and craft vendors and live music by Elliot Crowe ended both evenings.
