Kootenai Highland Gathering July 20, 2021 The Kootenai Highlanders held their ninth annual Highland Gathering over the weekend of July 16-17 at the River Bend on Highway 37. The Gathering celebrates Celtic culture and features traditional games sanctioned by the Scottish American Athletic Association, as well as pipers, drummers, dancers, clans in traditional dress, music, food, and vendors. In attendance from Kalispell were members of the Montana Highlanders Association Bagpipe Band to lend their musical talents and to lead the clans for introductions on Saturday, and also members of the An Daire Academy: Flathead Valley Irish Dance to perform for the event. Clan introductions were a little shorter this year due to the hot weather during our current heat wave. The National Weather Service recorded an official high temperature of 94° for Libby for the day.
