Winter Begins December 22, 2017 Winter in the northern hemisphere was officially ushered in Thursday, December 21, with the winter solstice which signifies the shortest day and longest night of the year. It certainly felt like winter as Libby and surrounding areas dug out of as much as two feet of snow. This deer was foraging in Fireman's Park in Libby on Thursday.
