Welcome to the Chainsaw Carving Championship! Chainsaw Carving Championship - Friday September 24, 2017 Libby's inaugural chainsaw carving championship got underway Friday, September 15, under very smoky conditions courtesy of the West Fork fire. That didn't deter the 15 carvers or many spectators, however, as the carvers began their work Friday morning and continued throughout the day. Besides an exhibition piece to be completed by Sunday, the participants were required to quick-carve a piece each of the three days of the competition. These pieces were auctioned to the public on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. This was the first of three days of amazing artistic talent on display on Mineral Avenue.
