Fisher River Valley Fire/Rescue Ice Fishing Derby
 January 30, 2016
Fisher River Valley Fire/Rescue's fundraising ice fishing derby is being held this weekend. By mid-afternoon Saturday, over 250 anglers had signed in, with more expected for Sunday.
Pictured are Anna and Matt McComb from Kalispell, who are regular participants in tournaments around the area. They were fishing for perch on Middle Thompson Lake.
The fire department reported that ice conditions were safe for walking, but not for four-wheelers. Minimum ice thickness as taken by the department in various locations was four inches, with some areas having thicker ice.
The weather was generally cooperative with high overcast, occasional partly sunny skies and scattered light squalls moving through. Overall, it was another great day to enjoy Montana's outdoors.
