Goat Rock Complex update: Sept. 9, 2015
by Kootenai National Forest
September 9, 2015

Today (Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015), crews and heavy equipment continue to make progress on the contingency lines on the East side of the Klatawa fire. Patrolling and clearing snags away from roadways are ongoing on fires.

Weather today saw a warm up into the 70’s with drier air moving into the area. Interior portions of the fires did show some persistent smoke with smoldering and will continue to be visible within fire perimeters as the weather warms into the coming days.

The Goat Rock Complex is a collection of the Klatawa, Vimy, Berray Mountain, Chippewa, Pine Ridge, Poplar Point, Dad, Napoleon, Government and Sawtooth fires burning on the Kootenai National Forest in northwest Montana.
