Shooting results in death of Libby woman

25 year old Sara Jane Gudmendsen is dead, and 30 year old Jacob William Stufflebeam is in the Lincoln County jail on a $200,000 bond charged with negligent homicide.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff, Roby Bowe, four individuals were driving around shooting at road signs in the Libby Dam area, and were returning to Libby. Stufflebeam was sitting in the rear seat, fondling the gun, when it discharged through the front passenger seat back penetrating Gudmundsen into her chest.

Justice of the Peace Jay Sheffield set a preliminary hearing for February 4.

Gudmendsen and Stufflebeam have one child together. Reportedly, Gudmundsen is the single mother of three children.

The incident continues under investigation by the Lincoln County Sheriff.
