The employee campaign for the St. John’s Lutheran Hospital New Building Campaign started off with a bang in January of 2009 when more than 80% of hospital employees jumped on board to show their support by payroll deduction giving. Their goal was to help secure a new hospital for Libby and Troy, and to leave their own legacy of care for generations to come.

Now, less than two years later, the employees of St. John’s have given a total of $150,000 towards the new hospital project and the campaign is still going strong! KC Hoyer, Executive Director of the SJLH Foundation is humbled by the generosity of her co-workers. "It always amazes me to get these numbers every month and see just how much our employees support this new hospital project. They are the people who are here in the trenches everyday working in our current facility. Nobody understands our need for a new hospital better than they do. It is a privilege to work with people who are willing to personally go above and beyond for their community and it speaks volumes about the quality and integrity of our staff," stated Hoyer.

By the time St. John’s breaks ground on the new hospital, which is looking like spring of 2011, the employees will have raised over $250,000 in support of the project.

"The total dollar amount that our employees will have given to this campaign is astronomical. It shows what a difference collective giving makes. We have some employees giving $5 a paycheck, and others giving as much as $200 a paycheck. It’s not the amount they give that truly matters, it’s the desire to help make a difference, and the knowledge that every little bit is helping us build a facility that will provide our community with quality healthcare for generations to come," added Hoyer.

The total fundraising goal of the Foundation and Capital Campaign Committee is $1.5 million.

They have already raised $983,000 toward that goal and hope to reach a million by year end.

"Having our employees so engaged in the campaign has made asking for community dollars much easier," stated Hoyer. "We feel that we can’t ask the community to support this project if we don’t support it ourselves. I’m also proud to say that both our Foundation Board and Capital Campaign Committee have pledged their support to this project as well - in both dollars and many, many hours."
