Logger athletes honored at assembly

Logger athletes were honored for their achievements during Libby High School’s annual fall activities awards assembly last Monday night.

For cross country, all-conference pick Nikola Falk was named most valuable girl, and Jacob Thomas was named most valuable boy. Falk was also honored as most inspirational girl, while Chris Faulkner was named most inspirational boy.

Michelle Hanson was named most improved girl, and Jesse Nelson was the most improved boy.

Three members of the Montana Class A runner-up girls’ soccer team – Anna Valentine, Jaime Gilden and Kaila Forster – received all-state and Logger hall of fame honors. Lindsey Kehn and Audra Poppen received all-conference honors along with Valentine, Gilden and Forster.

Valentine was named the team’s most valuable offensive player, and Kehn was named most valuable on defense. Myka Forster was picked as most improved, and Poppen was named most inspirational.

Lewis Brossman and Nick Reny received all-state and hall of fame honors for the boys’ state semifinalist soccer team. Greg Lundin, Cree Maloney and Brandon Pagacz received all-conference honors along with Brossman and Reny.

Leadership awards went to Brossman and James Schnackenberg, and the teamwork award went to Daniel Webster. Maloney was named most dedicated, and James Hare was named most improved. Playoff MVP honors and the sportsmanship award went to Crawford Dinning.

For the Logger cheerleaders, Cierra Stehlik was named most spirited, Courtney Wilkonski most improved and Corey Willis most inspirational.

The divisional champion Logger volleyball team’s Jackie Mee received all-state, hall of fame and first-team all-conference honors along with being named varsity MVP. Evi Cernick was received second-team all-conference honors, and Alysha Martin was an honorable mention.

Malena Sweet was the varsity team’s most improved player, and Cernick was most inspirational.

For the junior varsity volleyball team, Lexi Hageness was named most valuable, Becky Boulware most improved and Kelsey McClain most inspirational.

Wide received and outside linebacker T.J. Benson received all-state, hall of fame and first-team all-conference honors for the Logger football team. Kick returner Tyler Troy was also named first-team all-conference.

Second-team all-conference picks were tight end Alex Cislo and offensive guard Sean Lundin, and offensive tackle Sawyer Zimmerman and defensive end Kyle Sweedman were honorable mentions.

Coaches’ awards went to Benson, Lundin and kicker Kaila Forster, who set a state record of 21 consecutive extra points kicked. The dedication award went to Lundin. Sweedman was named most improved and Benson most inspirational.

For the Logger golf team, Zach Watson received all-state, hall of fame and all-conference honors along with being named the boys’ team’s most valuable player. Candace Hendrickson was named the girls’ team’s MVP.

Most inspirational honors went to Taylor Barton and Louis Cielak, and Sarah Kristiansson and Carson Whitmarsh were named most improved.
