August 18, 2009

The Libby City Council chose to freeze their salary increase, while at the same time allowing a two and half percent increase for hourly city employees.

The salary freeze includes all elected city officials.

The two and half percent employee increase is made up of one and half percent cost of living allowance and a one percent longevity increase.

Referring to the elected official's pay freeze Councilman Bill Bishoff commented he thought "it sets a good example, especially in view of these economic times."

The original proposal was for city personnel to receive a three and a half percent increase
