Type II IM Team takes over Parmenter Fire

Mark Grant's Northern Rockies Type 2 Incident Management Team will assume command of the Parmenter Fire, overseeing suppression efforts, at 7:00 p.m. this evening. The Incident Command Post has been established at the Libby Ranger District Fire Cache.

The Hemphill Road (#8837) remains closed for public safety. In addition, the Parmenter Trail (#140) is closed from the trailhead to the junction with the Tie Trail (#15). Forest users may access the upper portion of the Parmenter Trail by using the Flower Creek Trailhead.

The cause of the fire, reported on July 26th, is still under investigation.
