by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks
July 28, 2008

Horseshoe Lake Road in the Thompson Chain of Lakes Fishing Access Site, 50 miles west of Kalispell on Highway 2, will be closed from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm beginning around July 28th, 2008. The closure will last through August 8th, 2008 or until the roadwork is complete.

Dump trucks will be hauling gravel as final improvements are being made to the road.

The road will be open on weekends to accommodate weekend campers. Visitors will be able to access the east and south sides of Horseshoe Lake. The west end of Leon Lake can be accessed from McKillop Road.

Visitors are encouraged not to camp in sites 8 through 17, including group sites G1 and G2, due to noise and inconvenience during the closure.
