South Flower Ski Update: Feb. 27
Meeting scheduled for March 13
by Susie Rice
February 27, 2008

It's been a great winter!! Even though there is still 16" of settled snow in our back yard in town, the season is drawing to a close. We've actually been on 2 bike rides!! We have decided to quit grooming and night skiing. (Night is when the course gets rock solid and scary fast!!) A big thanks to Greg, Jim Wardensky and Ben Scott for all your grooming efforts!!

We have scheduled a meeting for Thursday, March 13 at 7pm at the First National Bank Community Room (upstairs using the Mineral Ave. entrance). This email goes to 65 email addresses. I think there have been over 100 different skiers using the course this year. The beautiful thing about the layout of the ski course is that you can ski and never see anyone. We were out on an early Sunday afternoon -- the first ones out. We came back to 8 cars in the parking lot and only saw one other family!!

We hope those of you who have skied might be able to join us at this meeting to hash over this past season, to discuss what needs to be done to button up the season (mainly sign and lantern and tank removal), to discuss a grant possibility that Mark Mason has found with FWP to buy new (better) grooming equipment, discuss grooming for next year, and to discuss the possibility of adult ski lessons and/or a children's fun program for next year.

Susie
