Cross-Country Skiers Need Help
South Flower Ski Course
by Greg and Susie Rice
January 8, 2008

Good news! Jim Wardensky is out grooming this morning. He'll probably just concentrate on the lower loops and NOT go to the clearcut today. Greg plans on grooming on Thursday.

The freezing rain made for some gnarly skiing on Saturday. There was about 1/4" crust. But once it was broken down (thanks to those of you who went out early!!), night skiing wasn't too bad. Laurie Maloney and Deb Bond were the only brave souls who night skied but they were having a good time!!

What determines when the course is groomed?? Part of it is the weather. The temperatures have to be cold enough that the snow doesn't clump up in the grader. The other variable is the availability of grooming people. Greg was on call this weekend and never saw daylight let alone the ski course!! So...

Are there any of you out there who know how to drive a snowmobile that would be interested in learning to groom??

Are there any of you who might commit to lighting the lights and starting the fire on a given Saturday night??

Is there anyone who could commit to unlocking the gate on Saturday mornings (by 9am)?

If any of these tasks might interest you, please let us know.

Susie and Greg
