FWP seeking comments on Loon Lake rehabilitation project

Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP), Region One, has prepared a draft environmental assessment (EA) for the purpose of improving the angling quality of Loon Lake in Lincoln County through removal of eastern brook trout and black bullheads by application of piscicide and restocking with westslope cutthroat trout.

Copies of the draft EA are available at FWP headquarters, 490 N Meridian, Kalispell; Montana State Library, 1515 E 6th Ave., Helena; the Lincoln County Libraries - 220 W 6th, Libby/318 Dewey Ave., Eureka/207 N 3rd, Troy; and the FWP web site at fwp.mt.gov under Public Notices.

A public meeting will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2007, at 6:00 p.m. in the upstairs meeting room at First National Bank, 504 Mineral Avenue in Libby. The draft is out for a 30-day public review. Comments must be received by Friday, August 31, 2007.
