Mystical, Magical Christmas in Eureka
Eureka Chamber of Commerce
November 15, 2006
Eureka Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to bring you a Mystical, Magical Christmas in Eureka. Eureka, once the Christmas Tree Capital of the World, is bringing you a fun-filled Christmas Weekend December 1st and 2nd. It is the perfect way to kick off the Christmas Season. So bring your friends and family, and come experience a “Mystical, Magical Christmas in Eureka!”
Friday, December 1st, is the opening night of the Celebration. The Parade of Lights, starting at 6:00pm, leads Santa Clause and his sleigh down Eureka’s Main Street to the Historical Village. The Village is the heart of the Community and home to the Eureka Christmas Tree. Following the Parade is the Annual Tree Lighting, with music, hot chocolate and a chance for the youngsters to visit with Santa Clause. This event proves time and time to be the perfect setting for the Holiday Spirit and this year, make sure you take a luminary-lit walk on the Riverwalk in the “Light of My Life Memory Walk” sponsored by the Eureka Prompt Care and EPC Outpatient Services. The Riverwalk will be lined with Luminaries in the honor of loved ones; for more information contact the Eureka Prompt Care at 297-3145.
On Saturday, December 2nd, the Holiday spirit continues. Across the Tobacco Valley are a number of Holiday Bazaars (for a full listing see our website www.eurekaevents.com) and the Christmas Stroll on Eureka’s Main Street. Spend the day shopping and find that unique, one of a kind Tobacco Valley Gift! Need some time without the kids or want to have an inexpensive family outing? The Chamber of Commerce with the Majestic Theatre is sponsoring a Christmas Matinee, “Snow Day.” There will be two matinees, at 10:00 and 12:00. The cost for the matinee is one non-perishable (can) food item per person.
While shopping, don’t forget to take a break in one of our amazing restaurants. Later you might find a little evening entertainment is needed. The 2nd Annual Eureka Christmas Ball is just the thing. This “Mystical, Magical Christmas Ball” (based on the Yule Ball in the 4th Harry Potter movie) will prove to be an evening of enchantment. With musical performances by Kayla and Holly VanBemmel, this year's Christmas Ball will be an event for all ages. The doors open at 7:30pm and music starts around 8:00pm. A cash bar is provided by Eureka Sports Pub, which will be serving a selection of adult and child friendly drinks. For the more adventurous there is a costume contest, not required, following the theme of the Mystical Magical Christmas Ball (think Harry Potter meets the rural west). The contest will be a people’s choice and we will crown a King and Queen, and a Prince and Princess. Our royal Court will be asked to participate in the other events in the Eureka area throughout 2007.
