KNF seeks comments on exploratory drilling project
Comments due by September 9
August 13, 2006

The Libby Ranger District of the Kootenai National Forest (KNF) is seeking public comment on a mining Plan of Operations from Arnold Backie of Libby Creek Ventures. The project is for exploratory drilling on his mining claims in the Libby Creek drainage.

Libby Creek Ventures proposes to rotary drill three holes on the shoulder of road #2316, upper Libby Creek Road.

All drill cuttings would be hauled off-site for assaying. Drill pad construction would not be necessary for the project. Drill holes would be plugged and any ground disturbances would be revegetated following completion.

The project is located in the NE ¼ of Section 15, T27N, R31W, MPM.

Comments are invited on the proposed action. Please address public comments to Malcom R. Edwards, Libby District Ranger, RE: LCV Drilling Proposal, Canoe Gulch Ranger Station, 12557 Hwy 37, Libby, MT 59923. Comments should include name, address and phone number and organization represented, if any. Also include the title of the proposed action on which the comment is being submitted and specific facts and supporting reasons for the responsible official to consider when making his decision. The decision will be mailed to persons who have submitted comments and to those who request a copy.

Comments are due by Saturday, September 9, 2006.

Project specific information is available from Lynn Hagarty at Canoe Gulch Ranger Station, (406) 293-7773.
