There are many fun events planned in the Libby area for this summer. Here are the dates so you can mark you calendar and make your travel plans

July 4: Troy 4th of July
Troy

July 28-29: Kootenai River Rodeo
J. Neils Park, Libby
Sponsored by the Libby Area Chamber of Commerce
PCA Rodeo featuring bull riding, saddle bronc, team roping, tie down and barrel racing. New this year is a Little Buckaroo Rodeo for the kids featuring a Sheep Roundup, Mutton Bustin’ and Little Buck steer-riding rodeo. Crowning of the Rodeo Queen will be on July 28th. There will be vendors, food booths, entertainment, autograph sessions with rodeo participants and music. Rodeo begins at 7:30 pm on both days. Tickets are $8/person per day in advance or $10/person at the gate. Children 6 and under free.

August 18-19: Ignite the Nites Car Show
Sponsored by the Igniters Car Club in Libby, established 1961.
Held in downtown Libby. This year’s theme is “American Graffiti”. Prizes will be awarded for best theme car and costume. The event will feature a Poker Run, Cruise the Gut, Neon and Flame-Throwing Contest, Car Show, Burnout Contest and a Dance. New this year is the Best of 9 Golf Tournament on Friday at Cabinet View Country Club (contact Terry Watson for more info and to pre-register, 406-293-7100) For more information about the Car Show, call Gary Rntala at 406-293-2633, grantala@libby.org.

August 21: Shakespeare in the Parks
"Winter’s Tale", time TBA
Free performance, Libby Middle School
Bring your own blankets, chairs and picnic goodies.

September 8-10: Libby Nordicfest
22nd Annual Libby Nordicfest, a celebration of the Scandinavian heritage of the early Libby settlement days. A colorful festival of culture, food and music! Events include the Fjord Horse Show, a parade, Scandinavian Rock Throwing Contest, free outdoor entertainment, a melodrama, quilt show, craft show, musical acts, ethnic food booths. Libby’s own Treasure Tones will perform on Friday night, September 8th. Sylvia & the Fjordsong Band will perform Scandinavian variety and old-time dance band on Saturday, September 9th. Both performances will be at the Dome Theater. The Kootenai Karacters will perform a locally written melodrama.
