Lake Koocanusa Fishing Report Fall fishing September 21, 2005 The fall fishing report is courtesy Koocanusa Resort, located on Lake Koocanusa, uplake from Libby Dam. Koocanusa Resort is located right on the lake’s edge, one of the few commercial establishments on the lake. They offer a restaurant, marina, convenience store, boat rentals, cabin rentals, RV park and lake information. Their winter rates go into effect beginning October. Cabin rentals are available over the winter for die-hard lake fishermen or snowmobilers. Call ahead for lake and snow conditions before coming. Fall Fishing Report for Lake Koocanusa - end of Sept: The Rainbow fishing is starting to pick up. This is a great Ling Cod lake! We have had three 12 lb+ rainbows brought in the last three weeks. There still are a few salmon around, but not many. Around Oct 1-10th the Rainbow fishing starts to get very good.......... We are already freezing some nights and it is very cool during the late afternoon. Winter is coming soon. The lake doesn't freeze so far so fishing is allowed by boat all winter and we keep the ramp and road cleared as much as possible. We have one enclosed pontoon to rent for the die-hard winter fisherman that want to go for the bog Rainbows and Kamloops. Winter rates begin in October. There are 6 cabins with heat open for the entire winter, 5 have fireplaces. RV park will be open until Nov 1st-, if weather conditions permit. RV camping reopens April 15th.
