Drought funding available for fisheries improvement
March 7, 2005

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is again offering a special opportunity to apply for Future Fisheries dollars for projects that will help maintain flows in streams and rivers and reduce the impact of the low water levels that are likely to occur in some parts of the state this summer. The deadline to apply for this funding is April 1.

The Future Fisheries Review Panel will evaluate proposals in early April and the FWP Commission will consider projects recommended for funding on April 14. Officials are especially interested in innovative water conservation projects that will enhance in-stream flow to benefit fisheries.

Information describing the program, and the Future Fisheries grant application form, are available on the FWP web page at fwp.mt.gov. Click on Habitat, then Fish Habitat and look under Future Fisheries Program. The Future Fisheries Improvement Program's regular deadlines of July 1 and Jan. 1 are additional opportunities for project funding.
