Yarnell Island is located in the middle
of Lake Koocanusa reservoir and is only accessible by boat. You can
launch from any of the boat ramps in the area and paddle over to the
island. At high water levels there are two islands, at low water levels
there is just one island. Circumnavigate the islands, poking into all
the nooks and crannies. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy this as a day
visit or spend the night for an unforgettable experience having the
island all to yourself. There are many picnic tables on top of the island.
